This qualification is for those persons who want to build on a FETC in any field to enter the field of ODETD as a potential career, and have little or no previous exposure to ETD. The qualification will also be valuable for those who may have been practising within the field, but without formal recognition. This qualification will be useful for Learning facilitators, Assessors, Learner and learning supporters and Skills Development Facilitators.

In this first programme, delegates will learn about the National Qualifications Framework and Outcomes-Based education and training. They will then learn how to prepare for, conduct, provide feedback and review outcomes-based assessments.
This programme includes two Fundamental unit standards on communication, oral and written. As an ETD Practitioner, delegates will gain an understanding of the importance of effective communication, both written and verbal within the education and training field.Delegates will learn how to define target audience profiles and be able to identify skills gaps which form the initial and important steps in preparing for training of learners. They will learn how to assist and support learners to manage their learning experiences in learning situations such as short courses and Learnerships.
Delegates will learn how to guide and support learners in preparing for assessment and provide guidance on recognition opportunities. They will be able to identify and analyse Learner’s needs, prepare, and review an individual development plan, provide guidance to learners, and maintain records of learner needs and guidance provided.They will learn how to Facilitate learning using a variety of given methodologies by effectively planning and preparing for facilitation, facilitating learning interventions, and then evaluating the effectiveness of the lessons presented using given evaluation instruments, collecting, recording, analysing and interpreting this date and compiling an evaluation report.
This programme will equip delegates with the knowledge and skills to plan and design and develop outcomes-based learning programmes, which they or other ETD Practitioners will present.The design and development of outcomes-based learning programmes is generally preceded by defining target audience profiles and the identification of skills gaps that were addressed in Skills Programme 2.Delegates will be guided through the design and development of outcomes-based learning programmes and assessments.
The function of the Skills Development Facilitator (SDF) is a key strategic function. A SDF is a person who will ensure that the organisation’s Workplace Skills Plan and Annual Training Report is developed and implemented and serves as a liaison person between the organization or organisations and a Seta.The main purpose of the role is to ensure the organisation’s compliance and manage the risk in terms of the Skills Development Act, National Qualifications Act, Skills Development Levies Act, SAQA Act, BBBEE Act, BCEA, Labour Relations Act and EEA in terms of skills development. The SDF must provide information and advice on skills development practices and requirements in line with the needs of the organisation.In this programme, delegates will learn how to assist organisations in ensuring effective planning and implementation of a skills development strategy in line with relevant Skills Development and Employment Equity legislation takes place. They will also learn how to identify the correct training interventions for employees to follow in their quest to improve their work and individual performance.After successfully completing this programme, delegates will be able to provide information and advice regarding skills development and related issues, define target audience and skills gaps within a work force, conduct an analysis to determine outcomes of learning for skills development and other purposes, develop an organisational training and development plan, coordinate planned skills development interventions; and conduct skills development administration in an organisation.
Moderators are an integral part of the internal quality system. They provide guidelines on how assessment practices can be improved in their capacity as advisors to promote assessment practices and contribute towards the further development of assessors.Delegates who are successful in this programme will be able to moderate assessments in terms of the relevant outcome statements and quality assurance requirements. They will be able to use the prescribed Quality Assurance procedures in a fair, valid, reliable, and practicable manner that is free of all bias and discrimination, paying particular attention to the three groups targeted for redress: race, gender, and disability.
