Inkwazi Learning Network: Training South Africa’s Trainers – Find Out Why Is Skills Learning So Important
Somebody has to train the people who run South Africa’s accredited courses. In Howick, in the KZN Midlands, Inkwazi Learning Network has been doing that for more than 24 years, working with facilitators, assessors, moderators and skills development practitioners.
About Inkwazi
Inkwazi is the isiZulu name for the African Fish Eagle, which explains the company’s motto, “Soaring to Success.”
The company is accredited with both the ETDP SETA and the QCTO. It is also ISO 9001:2015 certified and a Level 4 B-BBEE contributor. Government departments, SETAs, TVET colleges and municipalities use its services, as do professional bodies and companies like Transnet, Bridgestone, KPMG and Hulamin.
Courses
Most of the work is accredited training for people in education, training and development (ETD). There are QCTO skills programmes for five roles: Assessment Practitioner, Learning and Development Facilitator, Learning Support Facilitator, Skills Development Facilitation Practitioner, and Work Based Learning and Development Practitioner. For a full qualification, there’s the Occupational Certificate: Training and Development Practitioner. Organisations can also do a programme on setting up Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
South Africa is phasing out legacy qualifications in favour of the QCTO’s occupational qualifications, so many practitioners and training providers need to update their credentials. These programmes are the new QCTO versions.
In person or online
Workshops run at the Howick head office and at venues in Pinetown, Germiston, Edenvale and Alberton.
If getting to a venue isn’t practical, you can study online. Sessions run on MS Teams, Google Meet or WhatsApp. You work through the course materials, workbooks and portfolio templates at your own pace, with scheduled facilitator sessions and help by phone or email when you get stuck. All you need is a stable internet connection and a laptop, desktop or tablet.
Companies sending eight or more people can have the training run at their own premises.
Consulting
Inkwazi’s consulting work covers several areas. The team trains college lecturers in facilitation, assessment and moderation, and advises training providers in sectors such as transport, financial services, banking and private security. They also carry out verifications for SETAs, including PSETA, Services SETA, FASSET and the Banking SETA. Organisations that need a quality management system, policies, training materials or a custom short course can have these written for them.
Learners with disabilities
Client testimonials often mention the company’s work with learners with disabilities. It provides materials in braille and audio, and has worked with the KwaZulu-Natal Society for the Blind. Other clients say their certificates arrived on time.
